As'salamu alakum! My Muslim brothers and sisters. It's coming up! The most blessed and holy month... Ramadan. It's that time of year again. Where we shut out all these distractions from these outer forces and please Allah through our prayers and our fasting. Ramadan is a time were we can ask Allah for forgiveness and  that he will help guide you to the straight path (Ameen). Ramadan is a new beginning where we do good deeds like give charity and pray. Ramadan is the best time of the year. Ramadan is a time where  families come closer together to do good deeds. Ramadan is a month were you can become closer to Allah the almighty. Inshallah may the month of Ramadan be an easy time for everyone and hope that everyone gets the benefits of Ramadan.

ps. I'll be posting hadiths and dua's you guys can read also a way for everyone to finish the Quran in 30 days :D

Respect and Islam

In my high school I had learned about the LGBTQ (lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Queer etc... ) community and where I heard about horrible experience a lesbian student at her university had faced by Muslim man who had physically beat  the student unconscious and had urinated on her. This is sickening. We know that in Islam it is haram to be Gay. But as a Muslim it is our duty to respect people no matter their colour, their view on Islam or who they choose to love or marry. Things like this give Muslims a bad reputation. We Muslims are known for the  respect we give to others if they Muslim or not. Actions like this give the Islamic community a bad look. We Muslims are already facing so much discrimination and hatred from 9/11. This is not the time to be hurting people on the street or at school. This is the time we show what Islam is really about Peace, love and respect. I hope I have given people an understand of what Islam stands for. Even if someone is doing haram it is not any ones place to intervene but to help guide them. As Muslims we show our respect and not act upon the stereotype that has been placed on us.

With the poor



Many people today view manners in a commercial light. To them, only rich people’s jokes are worth laughing at, and only their faults are considered small and worthy of overlooking. As for the poor, their jokes are unbearable and only worth of ridicule, while their faults are magnified and they are shouted down. 
As for the Prophet (peace be upon him), his kindness extended to both rich and poor alike. Anas - may Allah be pleased with him - said,
“There was a man from amongst the Bedouins whose name was Zahir bin Haram. Whenever he came to Madinah for a need, he brought something for the Prophet (peace be upon him) as a gift, like cottage cheese or butter. Likewise, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would prepare something to give to him whenever he wanted to leave, such as dates and so on. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to love him and say: “Zahir is our Bedouin and we are his city-dwellers.”
Zahir was not very good looking. One day, Zahir - may Allah be pleased with him - left the desert and came to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) but did not find him. He had some merchandise to sell so he went on to the marketplace.
When the Prophet (peace be upon him) found out about his arrival, he went to the marketplace looking for him. When he arrived, he saw him selling his merchandise with sweat pouring down from his face, and he wore Bedouin clothes which did not smell good either. The Prophet (peace be upon him) hugged him tightly from behind, while Zahir was unaware and could not see who it was.
Zahir became scared and said: “Let me go! Who is this?” But the Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent. Zahir tried to release himself from his grip and started to look right and left. When he saw the Prophet (peace be upon him), he relaxed and calmed down, placing his back against the Prophet’s chest. The Prophet (peace be upon him) began to joke with him, saying to the public: “Who will buy this slave?! Who will buy this slave?!”
Thereupon, Zahir looked at himself and thought of his extreme poverty, for he had neither wealth nor good looks.
He said: “You will find me unmarketable, O Messenger of Allah.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “But you are not unmarketable with Allah. You are very precious to Allah.”
It was no surprise then that the hearts of the poor were attached to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He would gain their respect and love by such an attitude. Many poor people may not accuse the rich of miserliness in terms of wealth and food, but they can certainly accuse them of miserliness in terms of gracious and kind treatment. How often do you smile at a poor person and make him feel he is worthy and respectable, so that perhaps at night he might supplicate for you and cause Allah’s mercy to descend upon you from the heavens?
There may be a person with dishevelled hair who is rejected and not cared for, but if he ever asks Allah for something he is always responded. Therefore, always be humane with the weak. 

A brother like that

Shuaib received an automobile from his brother as an Eid present. On Eid day when Shuaib came out of his house, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it. “Is this your car, Uncle?” he asked. Shuaib nodded. “My brother gave it to me for Eid.” The boy was astounded. “You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t cost you nothing? Boy, I wish…” He hesitated. Of course Shuaib knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Shuaib all the way down to his heels. “I wish,” the boy went on, “that I could be a brother like that.” Shuaib looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, “Would you like to take a ride in my automobile?” “Oh yes, I’d love that.” After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes aglow, said, “Uncle, would you mind driving in front of my house?” Shuaib smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Shuaib was wrong again. “Will you stop where those two steps are?” the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Shuaib heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car. “There it is, little brother, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Eid and it didn’t cost him a penny. And some day I’m gonna give you one just like it…then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Shop windows that I’ve been trying to tell you about.” Shuaib got out and lifted the boy to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable ride. That Eid, Shuaib learned what the RasulAllah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) meant when he had said: “love for your brother what you love for yourself”.

So in Bismillah arRahman arRaheem 19 letters which means 190 rewards! Just by doing the bismillah without even starting you gained 190 rewards InshAllah.

So how about doing ayas and repeating when you memorize?

It is truly an offer from Allah we cannot refuse. It is the chance of a lifetime truly because some of the scales on the day of Judgement may only need one reward for it to be heavier and open up the way by Allah's mercy to the Jannah!

We ask Allah the sincerity, the truthfulness, the acceptance, the good abode at the hereafter.

The 10 year old boy.


There was once a man who was an enemy to Islam. He had three famous questions that no person could answer. No Islamic scholar in Baghdad could answer his three questions…thus he made fun of Islam in public. He constantly ridiculed Islam and the Muslims. One day a small boy, who`s age was 10, came along and heard the man yelling and screaming at Muslims in the street. He was challenging people openly to answer the three questions.
The boy stood quietly and watched. He then decided that he would challenge the man. He walked up and told the man, “I will accept your challenge”.
The man laughed at the boy and ridiculed the Muslims even more by saying, “A ten year old boy challenges me. Is this all you people have to offer!”
But the boy patiently reiterated his stance. He would challenge the man, and with Allah`s help and guidance, he would put this to an end. The man finally accepted.
The entire city gathered around a small “hill” where open addresses were usually made. The man climbed to the top, and in a loud voice asked his first question.
“What is your God doing right now?”
The small boy thought for a little while and then told the man to climb down the hill and to allow him to go up in order to address the question.
The man says “What? You want me to come down?”
The boy says, “Yes. I need to reply, right?”
The man made his way down and the small boy, age 10, with his little feet made his way up.
This small child`s reply was “Oh Allah Almighty! You be my witness in front of all these people. You have just willed that a Kafir be brought down to a low level, and that a Muslim be brought to a high level!”
The crowd cheered and screamed “Takbir”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!”
The man was humiliated, but he boldly asked his Second question… “What existed before your God?”
The small child thought and thought.
Then he asked the man to count backwards. “Count from 10 backwards.”
The man counted…”10, 9 ,8 , 7 , 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,0”
The boy asked, “What comes before 0 ?”
The man: “I don`t know…nothing.”
The boy: “Exactly. Nothing was before Allah, for He is eternal and absolute.”
The crowd cheered again….”Takbir!”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!!”
The man, now completely frustrated, asked his final question. “In which direction is your Allah facing?”
The boy thought and thought.
He then asked for a candle. A candle was brought to him. The blessed child handed it to the man and asked him to light it.
The man did so and remarked, “What is this supposed to prove?”
The young boy asked, “In which direction is light from the candle going?”
The man responded, “It is going in all directions.”
The boy: “You have answered your own question. Allah`s light (noor) goes in all directions. He is everywhere. There is no where that He cannot be found.
“The crowd cheered again….”Takbir!”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!”
The man was so impressed and so moved by the boy`s knowledge and spirituality, that he embraced Islam and became a student of the young boy.
So ended the debate.
Who was the young boy?
The young boy was one of our leaders and one of the greatest scholars, Imam Abu Hanîfa (May Allah bless him).

A story of an amazing woman


There was a woman who reached the age of 40. Her sisters and brothers all got married, and her parents died and she stayed in the house alone. She was religious and righteous.
A woman said to her, “May ALLAH help you to cope with this loneliness, you have stayed alone after all your family has gone.” And she started to encourage her to be patience.
But she gave an amazing response that not even great and prominent people could come up with. And those who heard this answer were stunned by it.
She said, “Who told you that I am living alone? Not at all. I have not lived a single day without the one I loved. He is with me night and day, and He does not leave me for a moment and I talk to Him at moment when He is closest to me.. He is my RABB..”

The Importance of saying Ishallah


” During a Jumah Khutbah in a small town, an Imam talked about the significance of saying “Insha Allah” (which means if Allah wills) when planning to do something in the future. After a few days, a man who had also attended the Khutbah was going to buy a cow from the market. On the way, he met a friend who asked him where he was going. He told him about buying the cow but did not say Insha Allah in the end. His friend reminded him about the Khutbah and told him to say Insha Allah. However, this individual said that he had the money he needs and the energy to go to the market, thus, there is no point of saying Insha Allah as he will certainly buy the cow. He thought that saying Insha Allah will not make any difference.
When he reached the market, he found a cow that met his expectations. He burgained with the seller and came to a reasonable price. Finally, he decided to pay for the cow but was dumbfounded when he discovered that his money was missing. A thief had stolen the money while he was walking through the busy market. The cow seller asked him whether he was going to buy the cow or not. “Insha Allah, I will buy it next week,” he said. When he reached home, his wife inquired about the cow. He told her about how he forgot to say Insha Allah, and also added, “Insha Allah, I wanted to buy the cow. But Insha Allah, my money was stolen. Insha Allah, I will buy it next week.” His wife clarified to him that we should say Insha Allah for things that are yet to happen, not for those things that had already happened. He never forgot his “Insha Allah” again.”

Story using very bad language


Mahmud was a very pious man, but he was not very attractive looking. One day, he was walking along the road, minding his own business, when a lady came up to him, and started calling him names and abusing him. This lady kept saying all kinds of nasty things, and Mahmud just listened to her patiently. Finally, when she was finished calling him names and abusing him, Mahmud just greeted her, smiled, and said
"and a nice day to you," and continued on his way.

Why did Mahmud, the pious man, behave this way?
It is because he knew that everything she said was just a reflection of her own inner self.
If you use bad language, you are just making obvious to everybody how far away you really are from Allah, since your words are in reality a reflection of your own inner self.

(1) The BEST garment is the garment of righteousness. 

(2) Whenever you dress , cover your chest (bosoms). 

(3) Lengthen your garment.

Hadith about the veil

Narrated Umar:
 I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Good and bad persons enter upon you, so I suggest that you order the mothers of the Believers (i.e. your wives) to observe veils." Then Allah revealed the Verses of Al-Hijab.

About the Jilbab

“In Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 59, Allah has ordered the believing women to wear a jilbab. A jilbab as defined in all the books of tafseer is a cloak that covers the woman's body from the top of her head to her feet. It is also described in those books, form the scholars of the earliest generation that after that verse was revealed, the women would completely cover themselves, leaving, for example, just one eye exposed so they can see the road. Hence, this is the outer garment of the woman that she must wear when she is in front of men she is not related to. “

The wonders of the hijab or head scarf.

Lets talk Hijab my sisters the importance of the Hijab!!
First off I'll start with a story of my weird hijab experiences that I had. Well it all start one day when I was in class when a boy in my class came up to me and asked me why did I wear the hijab? I told him that I wore the hijab for modesty and then he proceeded to ask me what is modesty? To be honest i really didn't know that much about modesty and it's meaning FAILBLOG I know right? but the only thing I knew was that we wore the hijab for modesty but had no idea what modesty was i was 14 and had been wearing the hijab since i was around 5 or 4 so i gave him this sort of example that I came up with of what modesty meant I said that it is when someone cover their body and  does not show to much skin to the opposite gender. After telling him this he told be that he always believed that in the old days were people lived in the desert that the hijab was for shielding the sand out of their eyes!! This was a surprising but funny it made me realize that a lot of people are uneducated about the hijab. Even though he was a non Muslim and of course this is common since he barely know anything about Islam and it's teachings but there are people out there born into Islam and don't know much about why they wear the hijab. DON"T worry my sisters Najma's to the rescue here to tell you all about the does and don't of the hijab and a little background info as well. Now lets begin :D

Why do we wear the Hijab?
 The reason Muslim woman wear Hijab is obviously for modesty but what is modesty. Well modesty meaning in the oxford definition is..." behavior, manner, or appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency: modesty forbade her to undress in front of so many people"
Modesty in Islam is a principles of faith Modesty does not just go on in the outer appearance but on the inside as well. Modesty is not just for woman but for men as well (but I'll talk about men modesty in another post).


Why Modesty?

The prophet (PBUH) had said that their was a certain characteristic that divided Islam and his teachings from any other religion and it is Modesty. (AbdelRahman Murphy) 


How can Modesty be on the inside as well?

Easy modest of portrayed in 3 ways Intellectual, Physical and Spiritual. Modesty can be portrayed on the inside by 2 ways Intellectually and Spiritually.

How to be Intellectually Modest?

Here's how one can be Intellectually modest. Someone can be Intellectually Modest by intellectually submitting to Allah. Knowing that Allah knows best and that you should worship him as if he can see you (which he can). 

How can some one be Spiritually Modest?

Things you can do to be spiritually modest is by using what Allah gave you for his sake  An example is your mouth instead of backbiting and taking back to your parents use it to spread the word of Islam and to use respectful words to your parents.

How can one be Physically Modest?

Someone can be physically modest by the way they dress and act. By acting Physically modest you do not raise your voice in public you voice should be only heard by the person you speak to. by acting physically modestly one must lower their gaze when seeing men. Also one should dress right by wearing the Hijab (head Scarf) and wearing clothe that do not stick to the body eg. Skinny jeans tight t-shirts etc... and you also should be covering every thing except the hands and face. If you want to wear the "niqab" which is the face cover it is even better. By just showing your face and hands doesn't mean you can't be fashion forward there are many clothe that can be worn modestly like a skirt and a nice shirt even an abaya (long black dress). You can be modest in many ways and still stay in the boundaries of Islam  It's your chance to be CREATIVE!!

All about the Hijab

I'll be making a series that just talks about the Hijab to give people more of an understanding on the Hijab and it's principles. I have been wearing the hijab for a long time now and have gotten many questions on it. So here's an opportunity for me to clarify any question or misunderstandings you might have. I was thinking about putting up a couple of modest clothing ideas for those sisters that plan on wearing skirts and abaya's (shuka's-full body cover dress). And a section on the niqab (face covering). Also a little bit about the controversy between wearing the niqab and not wearing it.

The Valentines Story


The Red Heart

It could have been the splash of red or the overabundance of hearts or the young man in a designer jeans that caught his eye, but Sheikh Hamaad stopped under the bold “Valentine’s day Specials” banner, set his shopping basket on the floor and watched the young man battling to select an appropriate gift from the heaps of hearts, teddy bears and chocolates. Like a busy humming bird he flitted from shelf to shelf struggling to choose.
Sheikh Hamaad approached him as he stood scratching his head, “Asalaamu Alaikum, young man, seems like you’re battling to make a choice.”
“Eish, Moulana, this is more difficult than I thought. And lucky I only have to choose for two of them,” he said, picking up another heart decorated teddy bear, examining the price and putting down with disappointment.
“For your sisters?” Sheikh asked, feigning innocence.
“Naah, just friends, you know how it is. You have to do these things” came the prompt reply.
Sheikh Hamaad remained silent and fixed his gentle gaze on the young man, something more than the loud Billabong T-shirt and hipster jeans told him that this young man had more than a spark of intelligence.
“Tell me, how many Valentine’s gifts do your sisters receive?”
“Hey, hey.... Moulana my sisters are not like that. They don’t do this boyfriend thing. My sisters...they are pure,” exclaimed the young man an angry frown crossing his face. “Just let the guy try and send my sisters one flower and I’ll make him eat it. You don’t know me!”
“Oh,” said Sheikh Hamaad without any apology, “And your mother, how many Valentine’s gifts does she get?”
The young man took a step back and glared at Sheikh Hamaad, “La howla wa....” his words swallowed by his anger, “how can you even say such things about my mother? My mother, she doesn’t do this stuff. She is like an angel. She is pure. How can you say this?”
Sheikh paused, waiting for the silence to absorb the boy’s anger, then said, tauntingly, “So they don’t receive any Valentine’s gifts or have boyfriend’s at all.”
“I told you, Moulana, my family is pure and they don’t do this junk stuff.”
Knowing the moment was right Sheikh but forward his reasoning, “So you really don’t like your sisters receiving these gifts or having boyfriends.”
“No ways,” came the emphatic reply, “not on my life”
“Then don’t you think,” Sheikh ventured, “that other people would also not like their sisters, mothers or aunts to receive such gifts. Just as you would like your sisters to remain pure, they would also like their sisters to be pure?”
The young man dropped his head and shifted his feet nervously, “You have a point, Moulana. Didn’t ever think of it like that. I don’t want to say...but you are right. I shouldn’t be polluting other people’s family if I don’t like my family to be polluted. This is all quite wrong isn’t it?”
“Yes, it’s quite wrong,” without a hint of reprimand in his voice, “this is not our way.”
“But,” he asked, trying to conceal his embarrassment, “It’s not like we doing anything serious. I mean it’s only a gift. Not like we doing something physical...so it should be ok, no?”
Without disturbing his calmness, Sheikh Hamaad replied, “Do you like to go fishing?”
“Now you talking my language. Not a Sunday, not one, that we not by the dam,” he replied his hands waving with excitement, “We sit the whole day me and my buddies. First we prime the place with milie bombs. Just so the fish know we there. And they come, Moulana. They come for the bait. The whole lot, man....carpe, bass, barbell, you name it. But what’s that go to do with buying gifts.”
“When Shaytaan wants to trap someone,” Sheikh replied serenely, “he first puts some bait. Innocent stuff like gifts, the odd sms, just a hello and then when the time is right ....he will strike and how you say...you fall hook, line and sinker. Then he’s got you and it’s not long before he reels you in. So it starts with just a little bait. Just like the little gift that seems so innocent – it’s the bait.”
The young man beamed with this new found revelation and couldn’t wait to ask, “You are so right! And you have an amazing way of getting a point across Moulana, you didn’t just lecture me but you showed me how it is wrong. Thanks a mil. You must have learnt from a great teacher?”
“No doubt, I learnt from the best of all teachers,” Sheikh answered, “In fact, the best of all mankind...The Noblest Messenger of Allah- Rasulallah sallahu alaihi wa salam”
A reminder for all those who should think before they act. This is an amazing story it teaches many lessons and respect that every one could learn a thing or two about

A story of a true Muslimah

True strory told by Shaykh “Abdul Mohsen al Ahmad”, it happened in Abha (the capital of Asir province in Saudi Arabia)
“After performing Salat Al Maghrib, she put her make-up, wore her beautiful white dress preparing herself for her wedding party, Then she heard the Adhan of ‘Ishaa and she realized that she broke her Wudu
she told her mother : “mother, I have to go to make wudu and pray ‘Ishaa”
Her mother was shocked : “Are you crazy?!! Guests are waiting for you, to see you! what about your make -up? It will be all washed away by water!!” then she added:
” I am your mother and I order you not to perform salah now! wallahi if you make wudu now, I will be angry at you”
Her daughter replied :”wallahi I won’t go out from here till I perform my salah! Mother you must know that “There is no obedience to any creature in disobedience to the Creator.”!!
Her mother said:”what would our guests say about you when you’ll show up in your wedding party without make-up?! You won’t be beautiful in their eyes! and They will make fun of you!”
The daughter asked with a smile :”Are you worried because I won’t be beautiful in the eyes of creations? What about my Creator?! I am worried because, if I miss my salah, I won’t be beautiful in His eyes”
She started to make wudu, and all her make-up was washed away, but she didn’t care
Then she began her salah and at the moment she bowed down to make sujud, she didn’t realize that it will be her last one!
Yes! She died while in sujud! What a great ending for a Muslimah who insisted on obeying her Lord! Many people who heard her story were so touched!!
She put Him and His obedience first in her priorities, so He granted her the best ending that any Muslim would have!
She wanted to be closer to Him, so He took her soul in the place where Muslim are the closest to Him! Subhana Allah!
She didn’t care if she would be beautiful in the eyes of creatures so she was beautiful in the eyes of Her Creator!O Muslim sister, imagine if you are in her place! What will you do? What will you choose : pleasing creations or your Creator?
O dear sister! Do you guarantee that you will live for the next minutes? Hours? Months?!!
No one knows when their hour will come? Or when will they meet angels of death? So are you ready for that moment?
O non hijab sister! What do you choose : Pleasing yourself by not wearing Hijab or pleasing your Lord by wearing hijab?
Are you ready to meet Him without Hijab?
And what about you, sister who are “in relationship” or “open relationship”, are you ready to meet your Lord today? Tomorrow?! What do you choose pleasures of this Dunya or pleasures of akhirah?!
May Allah guide us all to what pleases Him and grant everyone who is reading these lines good ending, Ameen.

As'salamu alakum this is the Islamic greeting that one Muslim say to another and I say it to you with love for you my Muslim bothers and sisters or the converts that are thinking :D and HELLO my names Najma. I am a Muslim. I am a girl and no I am not a terrorist. Thank you very much :D I'm a regular teenage grew up in North America and have been living here for most of my life. I'm not those type of people that call themselves American Muslim because to be honest I'm not an American Muslim I am a Muslim that just so happens to be American  I find it very weird how people will call themselves an American before they call them selves a Muslim ? seeing that you were born Muslim first not american I see no point pleasing others I live for one reason and that reason is to please Allah and Allah alone not his creations. Now i shall tell you why i start this blog and it is for this reason and this reason only to help those how are lost or those in search of the true meaning of Islam and to talk about topics like the troubles Muslim men and women face on a day to day basis that live in america or any non Muslim country brings.
